Becoming a Member

Applications/nominations for ISFNR membership can be submitted at any point during the year. The Executive Board of the ISFNR considers them twice a year, in May and November. Once the vote takes place, new members will receive a message welcoming them to the Society along with information about membership fees and benefits. As per statutes of the ISFNR, the official announcement of new members will be made at the next ISFNR General Assembly.

A complete application consists of the nomination form and nominee’s CV listing publications in folk-narrative research. The application must be supported by two members of the ISFNR. Nominating members can send an e-mail to the Chair of the Membership Committee in lieu of signatures. Other application materials are to be sent to the Chair of the Membership Committee as well as to Society’s President.

It is also helpful to send two recent abstracts that are representative of the applicant’s scholarship. Any offprints, however, should be sent to Society’s President for an ISFNR library/archive.

If you have any ISFNR Membership questions, please contact directly the chair of the Membership Committee, Cristina Bacchilega (cbacchi@hawaii.edu).
