Conference outline
Following the successful conference 'Holy Groves around the Baltic Sea' in Tartu (May 4-6, 2007) we invite you to an international conference on natural holy places in Vilnius.
The conference will explore the character of natural holy places in the Baltic Sea region as it could be defined by archaeological and folklore data and will give rich opportunities for comparisons in time and space.
Two basic aspects in this research field are proposed for the discussion:
- Definition and categories of the natural holy places in the Baltic Sea region;
- Natural holy places in archaeology and folklore.
We also intend to discuss some other urgent points by exploring natural holy places as well as share our experience and visit some of the places in eastern part of Lithuania.
