ISFNR Interim Conference in Shillong, India
February 22-25, 2011

The present second circular serves to remind of the deadlines. For details previously published please refer to the first circular. In addition, please note the details of the registration procedure as well as facilities of accommodation.
The Conference Venue will be the Multi-Purpose Convention Centre of the North-Eastern Hill University.

The main topic of the conference will be:
Telling Identities: Individuals and Communities in Folk Narratives

The University Campus is located on the outskirts of Shillong, approximately 12 kilometers away from the city. The city, where most of the listed hotels are located, is well connected by taxi and bus services. There are regular University shuttle buses operating between Shillong and NEHU Campus and during the interim conference, complimentary shuttle buses, Campus-Bound at 9AM and City-Bound at 7PM daily, will be made available.

Travel:
The closest airport to Shillong is Guwahati. It is well connected to the big cities of India by several flight companies, such as Kingfisher (http://www.flykingfisher.com), Spice Jet (http://www.spicejet.com), Deccan Airlines (http://www.deccanairlines.com) and others. From Guwahati we recommend to travel to Shillong by bus or taxi (the travel may take 3-4 hours).
Please remember to check with your travel agency whether you need a visa to travel to India.

Accommodation:
Limited accommodation is available on NEHU Campus on written request. Tariff at the two University Guest houses is at the rate of Rs. 400/- and Rs. 600/- ($10 - 15 approximately) per room per day and tariff at the International Students' Hostel is at the rate of Rs.700/- ($17 approximately) per apartment per day. It may be noted that accommodation bookings at University facilities will be made by us on specific request on 'first come first serve' basis.

Many of the hotels do not have websites of their own and we, so far, are able to only provide the Links/Websites where one can log on to the different hotels in Shillong. Few hotels have made room rates available online and we are negotiating with them to facilitate this service.
